Entrepreneurship (1)

Within this segment I will be listing the steps you will need to become an entrepreneur. However these aren’t the typical steps you’d think of, these are what you aren’t always necessarily told. Sometimes I will use the world leader and the reason for that is I believe you simply cannot become an entrepreneur without being a good leader first. In my opinion these are the most important steps in terms of becoming an entrepreneur.

This first post will be on Step 1 : Have vision.

The vision you create will be your drive. It will be what keeps you moving forward. It will help you overcome obstacles and stay true to the profession you choose. Vision is a strong mental image. Something that once you figure out will forever be imprinted onto your brain. To have vision you need to do a few things. The first is to envision where you could be. Envision what your business could become. Look at what you have, think of what your business could be. Think about what your aim is and what you want to achieve. Then you have to envision what you want it to become. Think big and when you have, then think bigger. Allow your mind to expand as much as possible. It is one thing envisioning what your business could be however its another thing envisioning what you want it to be.

The difference between the both is that envisioning what it could be is what you see happening to it using the elements you are currently able to control. Envisioning what you want it to become is seeing the bigger picture. Letting your mind be open to all the possibilities. Maybe not the ones you can necessarily do now, but what you could do in the future. It is being open to anything. Always envision what you want it to be. Don’t limit yourself. A true entrepreneur doesn’t just make do with what he has, he goes out there and gets what he needs no matter what the cost.

You have to be true to yourself when creating this vision. You have to want to live it. The bigger, the better. Don’t allow it to scare you away. Don’t reduce the size of your vision because you don’t believe you could live it (belief will be in another post).

Why is vision so important?

It provides focus. As an entrepreneur you must always be focused. You need to know where you’re heading and why it is you are heading there. Your vision will help you focus on the task at hand. It will aid you greatly in accomplishing your goals. Vision creates desire. More importantly it creates desire to succeed. All entrepreneurs want to be successful in what they do.

“A leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved. He inspires the power and energy to get it done.” – Ralph Lauren
